Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme created by Renee @ It’s Book Talk. This meme is an awesome way to share old favorites that were published over a year ago or even books that you’re finally reading after much time has passed. I have plenty of those to share! If you have your own Throwback Thursday recommendation feel free to jump on board. Please link back to her by using the link above.
Today’s Throwback is….
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
“All right you bloody Scottish bastard, lets see how stubborn you really are.”
I read this quite a few years ago. Goodreads says 2016, but that was the year I started using GR.. I’m pretty sure I read this in 2012 or prior – can’t remember. I do know that this is one of my all time favourite series. Claire and Jamie have such intense chemistry and Diana Gabaldon is a master! Her writing is phenomenal – the amount of detail and world-building that goes into each novel is astounding. No wonder it takes 4 years to write each book! She carefully researches each historical happening before writing it into the Outlander world. The characters are pretty amazing – so funny and full of life. I have recommended this novel to so many people. I just love it so much!
Claire Randall is leading a double life. She has a husband in one century, and a lover in another…
In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon—when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”–in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire’s destiny in soon inextricably intertwined with Clan MacKenzie and the forbidden Castle Leoch. She is catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life …and shatter her heart. For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a passion so fierce and a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire…and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
