NOTHING! *shock.horror* Can’t believe it.

Currently reading and recently finished

To Best the Boys is the only book I’ve finished this month! It’s been a slow month, but, with all I’ve read lately, I guess it’s to be expected.

A few final words

Friends, I am so tired. Life has been insanely busy, but I really can’t complain. The Gin Experience on Friday with my friend was a wonderful time! We tasted loads of nice gins and food, then went to Porterhouse bar in Temple Bar And then I met my rugby girlfriends on Saturday for engagement celebration drinks! Hoping I get a bit of decompression time at some stage this week, so we’ll see! Are there any posts you’d like to see here in the next few weeks? xx

Can’t Freakin’ Wait Wednesday 10/04/19

Can't Wait Wednesday

Can’t Wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings and was based on Waiting on Wednesday’s, which is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. She created it to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released, but that’s not always the case. I happen to have pile upon piles of books I am excited to read, so thought this would be a fun meme in which to partake!

I was declined on Netgalley for this beauty and I am so sad! I really was looking forward to getting this early, but I guess I can’t be too upset because I really do have too many books to read right this moment, anyway. Still, though! I cannot wait for this to release in AUGUST! It’s stunning and the synopsis is so thrilling. It sounds like such a creepy tale, and I am here for it! Secrets are such a great thing to build a plot around, I find, because you generally get a narrator who is either unreliable or just doesn’t tell you things that come back in to surprise you in the end. SO CAN’T WAIT!

Have you read this yet or is it on your TBR? What do you think of the description? And which cover do you like better? UK (left) or US (right)?

The Blair Witch Project meets Imaginary Girls in this story of codependent sisterhood, the struggle to claim one’s own space, and the power of secrets

Sixteen-year-old Skye is done playing the knight in shining armor for her insufferable younger sister, Deirdre. Moving across the country seems like the perfect chance to start over.

In their isolated new neighborhood, Skye manages to fit in, but Deirdre withdraws from everyone, becoming fixated on the swampy woods behind their house and building monstrous sculptures out of sticks and bones.

Then Deirdre disappears.

And when something awful comes scratching at Skye’s window in the middle of the night, claiming she’s the only one who can save Deirdre, Skye knows she will stop at nothing to bring her sister home.

I’m about halfway through To Best The Boys, which is so wonderful. I’m loving Rhen and her whole take on life. Also reading The Invited by Jennifer Mahon (out at the end of the month) and listening to Wandfasted, which is the prequel to The Black Witch. Obviously, I finally finished The Black Witch (audio) and also read Opposite of Always, which I already posted my review! Totally check it out! Hoping to read some more of Other Words for Smoke before the launch tomorrow.

A few final words

My goodness, it has been such a busy week. I haven’t had a day off since Dingle! I’m exhausted 😴 and I’ve a lot on this week! So excited for the book launch tomorrow! Sarah Maria Griffin is literally one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait to see her talk about her newest weird book child! You all need to check her out and then buy her book, or the other way around. Also heading to Gin Experience on Friday evening, which is a great time! Chat soon, Wayfarers x

So, a twisted, futuristic AI Disneyland? Where do I sign up!? I am so excited to read this upcoming release from Jess Rothenberg. It really sounds unique and interesting. I also find it thought-provoking when I read a story about created beings that feel things that way humans do – like in LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff (spoiler: I LOVED IT!) And the way this story is going to be told through various platforms – interviews, testimony, and memories – sounds amazing! I really want this now. It’s too bad I was declined on Netgalley.

Have you read this yet or is it on your TBR? What do you think of the description? And which cover do you like better? UK (left) or US (right)?

Welcome to the Kingdom… where ‘Happily Ever After’ isn’t just a promise, but a rule.

Glimmering like a jewel behind its gateway, The Kingdom(TM) is an immersive fantasy theme park where guests soar on virtual dragons, castles loom like giants, and bioengineered species–formerly extinct–roam free.

Ana is one of seven Fantasists, beautiful “princesses” engineered to make dreams come true. When she meets park employee Owen, Ana begins to experience emotions beyond her programming including, for the first time… love.

But the fairytale becomes a nightmare when Ana is accused of murdering Owen, igniting the trial of the century. Through courtroom testimony, interviews, and Ana’s memories of Owen, emerges a tale of love, lies, and cruelty–and what it truly means to be human.

Finished listening to Talon (audio) last night at work and realised I have quite a few audiobooks to review, so will be doing an audio wrap up in the coming week. Also read Little Darlings (gasp) and Once & Future (which I loved so much)!

A few final words

So, we’re in Dingle, Co. Kerry this weekend and I am so excited to be here!

cropped_dingle_town_harbor_istock

Of course, that means I haven’t gotten too much reading done, unfortunately. It’s definitely worth it, though m, because he proposed!

We’ve also done a fair bit since arriving Friday. We walked to the harbour and visited a few local places on Friday. Then, Saturday went to Dingle Distillery and Oceanworld before finding a pub showing the Manchester United match, since he’s a fan.

It’s James’ birthday Monday, so this is our little weekend away to celebrate. His dad and I also went halves and booked a trip for James’ birthday for the three of us to Dubrovnik in May, which is his big birthday present, but I thought it would be nice to have a romantic weekend away for just the two of us.

It’s still going to be a difficult weekend, though, because today is Mother’s Day here in Ireland. Our first one without his mam since her passing last year. So, it’s going to be a rough day, but we’ll keep her in our thoughts and celebrate her life today. It’s been a hard 6 months. They say grief is a process, but I wish it would go quicker. I still find myself getting emotional about some things that remind me of her. Though, I don’t think that will ever truly stop.

Anyway! What are you all looking forward to for the first week of April, Wayfarers?

Magic is my brand! I love witches and unique magic systems, mages and intrigue. I’ve heard some great things about this novel, and WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT COVER? From the same author that brought us An Enchantment of Ravens, we get to dive into a world of evil sorcerers and magical tools, misled orphans and twisted justice. I totally need this in my life because I have a sneaky feeling Elisabeth is the strong protagonist we all need! The summary mentions a ‘power she has never guessed’ and I am here for it! Obviously, she’s going to change things in her world, and I am ready to find out exactly how she does it!

Have you read this yet or is it on your TBR? What do you think of the description?

“If you are looking for magic you will find it inside this book. Sorcery of Thorns is a bewitching gem, full of slow burning romance, loyal friendships, and extraordinary world building. I absolutely loved every moment of this story.” —Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series

From the New York Times bestselling author of An Enchantment of Ravens comes an imaginative fantasy about an apprentice at a magical library who must battle a powerful sorcerer to save her kingdom.

All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.

Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.

A few final words

Ugh, friends…just… It’s been SUCH a crazy week. Good things that happened are getting more clients for my business 🐶🐾 and a few more shifts in the off-licence (which is where I am right now). I’m definitely going to need to learn to balance life and work things better. All good, though! Unfortunately, one of the girls in dog training quit and today was her last day… 😭😭😭 We were all sad to be losing her, but it was a good decision for her. We celebrated her today, which was nice. 🎉 That’s it, really.
